June 25th, 2021

It has passed half of the year and passed my birthday of 61 years of age.
Many things to ponder and looking forward for a better future in life. Not wasting time but I am still struggling with my sewing, crochet, cross-stitch and few other hand work in between the house chores that I am taking it lightly and not to have it stressed upon.

Now it is vaccine time for everyone and I am waiting for my 2nd call (1st vaccine) which I failed due to high blood pressure caused by Mr Trigger Man of whom only few knows about him.  I have blocked him from my contact until all my two vaccines are done.

I am so looking forward to complete all my half done projects and the current projects too.  So many on my plate at the moment but I am not going to stress myself out. Slowly but surely. Need to smile more each day for a healthier life.

Live life fullest.  Stay safe and stay well.

11 April 2021

There are so many things to do.  At times I do not know which to do first especially on my craft work. Listening to many experienced quilters, I am trying to follow the tips given but unfortunately I am still struggling.

I have faith that I can do it and will do it and be active again in my blog to pencil in all my work in progress and long left behind.

Stay safe and stay well.

Lots of love

10 November 2020

Crochet Table Runner

Owh well, it has been a long week for me.  I can't wait to see my grand daughter, Hanna,  this evening coming home from holidays.

Anyway, about my table runner crochet, after almost completing on the 9th row, I realised that I missed one step, so had to unravel the whole rows until row 7th.  Had to crochet all over again. Well, I learned from my mistake. Have to complete this table runner by this coming Sunday.

So let me get on with it now.  Have a great day.

Crochet Table Runner

Since June 10th 2017, (I was discharged on my 57th birthday), my recuperating at home was filled with handwork and one of them is crochet.
One of the projects is crochet a table runner for my sister-in-law, Sarah. I am not good at it but I am trying my best to crochet it. Let me show you.

To tell you the truth, I can't wait for it to be completed.

So see you again on the next update.

Truly Coming Back

Since my last post at the beginning of 2017, I said that I am coming back and finishing off all my old projects. Unfortunately it did not materialise at all. I have been working and have limited time to do my sewing. During the limited time that I had after work at home, managed to complete a single size quilt for grand daughter, Hanna.

                                                     Polka Dotty Chevron Quilt

Anyway,  I could manage to complete the embroidery blocks, for a dear teacher to my son, which will be turned into a queen size quilt. Let me show you.

Coming in to the new year of 2018, with the determination to concentrate and fulfil my promise, in April 2018, I was given a news that could not be swallowed.
I had to go for a major surgery in June and now recuperating at home.  Unfortunately, due to the wound, I could not do any machine sewing but only hand sewing can be done within these six months till December 2018.

Now my determination includes to live life to the fullest with my love ones that are my children and grand daughter.

Happy day everyone.

My New Year 2017 Begins

HaPpY NeW YeAr 2017

Yes I am back after such a long long time. My personal life has stopped me from continuing my hobby for awhile. Alhamdullilah I am a proud grandmother 'Lola' to grand daughter Hanna and she is 1 year 6 months now.
My determination this year is to complete my ongoing projects and half done projects. Yes I will!
On the new year eve, I have the urge to start cleaning my sewing room and it was a success, and my new year begins.
My 2017 diary given by my daughter Nur Amirah who lives in Melbourne, Australia, will be filled with my patchwork & quilting projects.

Till then.

JUQ Group - Big Block Swap

It has been days that I last wrote. Just completed sewing for the second group #8 that I am in.

It is kind of amazing when I see the colours being combined  i.e. strong colours with subdued colours. I tried to choose colours as per requested by the swappers and hoping that they will like them. Done with love and friendship among quilters are priceless.

Now I am sewing for group #12. Will be posting them pretty soon.

Bye....

This is another interesting project from JUQ organised by Rhoda Forbes...Big Star Blocks in which a block measures 25" square. A project where in a group there are 9 persons swapping internationally. This is for the 1st Group that I am in. It is good to use up all my fabrics that I have in store.

Now going to Group #8 and Group #12...see you again.

Boxes Mystery Quilt - By Kylie Kenny of JUQ

First and foremost Happy New Year to everyone and it is the 2nd day of the month. I have been busy sewing the Boxes Mystery Quilt organised by Kylie Kenny of JUQ  which was a 3 days sewing project started on December 28, 2012 and ended December 30, 2012.

Owh well, I can say that this is the fastest quilt top that I have ever made besides the Jelly Roll quilt. Along the way in sewing, I made few mistakes which I was happy to face it, something that I always believe that I always learn through my mistakes..!!  Ripping is one of my favourite task. So let me show you the quilt top that I have done with the instructions given by Kylie Kenny.

:Later on I will use black coloured fabric for its binding....Thank you for Kylie Kenny again for organising this three days on line project.

Now I need to complete sewing the Big Star Blocks for international swap and also finishing up 7 pieces cushion covers for dear sister-in-law.

See you again.

JUQ Online Project - Boxes Mystery Quilt 2012

It has been a long time since I last updated my work. Has been busy lately, nothing serious but in everyday life.

Today kind of excited to show what I have after selecting the fabrics that are in my collection to start with this new mystery quilt, starting December 28th to December 30th...a three days online project organised by Kylie Kenny. So far Kylie always has a fun mystery quilt to share with us.

Till then will write again about this, showing the progress on the first clue which will be out on December 28th.

See you soon.

Pot Holder Swaps

This pot holder swaps is being organised by Naomi Vela and some how I kind of got myself caught up and sewn a few pairs...one to a swapper friend, three for gifts and two for my own kitchen.

Thank you to Craftygemini.com to have a tutorial on this.

If you have the time, please go to the said website for more tutorials. It is fun!

10-Minute Table Runner

I managed to sew all the six pieces table runners in one night as gifts to my 6 sister-in-laws at our gathering recently. I learned this method through one of the JUQ members, Sherry Young Abrams. This is a really great and fast way to make as gifts for birthdays, house warming etc etc.

Mood: Very Happy!!!

On Line Project - Scraps Blocks Swap

This is another great way to use up all your scraps that you have in your keeping. All quilters must have scraps that is for sure. And this method of sewing of strip piecing added on randomly with the other fabrics will turnout fabulously and you will be amazed on how it will turn out at the end of the day.

The blocks are done and sent out internationally on October 23, 2012. I have to thank you Janni Pederson for organising this swap. It is a great fun and of course knowing new friends too.

On Line Project - Signature Blocks Swap

These are the last lot of signature blocks that I had to do for Worldwide Siggy Swap. Another great project that I have been enjoying myself. The last 26 pieces done and all sent out on October 23, 2012. All together 100 pieces had been done...and I am hoping to receive 100 pieces too from all over the world. Once received, will have to patched together (with a pattern in mind) and turned into either wall hanging or lap quilt. I should be able to get two lap quilts with these 100's...looking forward to this.

I must say thank you to Naomi Vela from Australia who has been busy organising this project. A very fun block to do especially the middle blocks.

On Line Project - Quilters' Half Squares Triangles

Now I am done with the Half Square Triangles for the 2nd round to all international swappers. It is quite nice how it turned out following the respective request on the colours. I used the range of fabrics  of Graphic design from Paintbrush Studios.  Before this I was quite afraid to do half square triangles but now no fear at all. I must thank you Anita Paterson Black for organising this on line project.

All had been sent out on October 23, 2012.

16 October 2012

On line Group - Scraps Blocks Swap

Remember, I mentioned that I will come back once I have completed all the blocks to be sent out.

Yes! Now ready to be in their respective envelopes and they will all be sent out tomorrow...

14 October 2012

Online Group - Scraps Blocks Swap

This is another on line group swap that I am joining headed by Janni Pederson, where I have to sew using all my scraps. There are several ways of doing it and I chose to sew with one long strip and added another fabric scrap right side together and sew.

I find that it is a kind of therapy in sewing all the scraps together and can never imagine how it will turn out to be until you finish cutting them into a 6" block.

In the midst of sewing and enjoying myself, of course along the way, the Seam Ripper had been my best friend....I need to complete them before end October, that is my own date line.

I will be back again showing what I have done once completed.

Jelly Roll Quilt

This quilt top without border sewn from one Jelly Roll was done a few months back. And now it has gone to someone. I donated this to Naomi Vela from Australia who is the organiser for Orphan Blocks Aussie Heroes. I am happy about it.
